Success is not a stereotype. Success is not a fancy car. It’s not an extravagant house. It’s not money in the bank. That’s not success. Success is designing the life you desperately want, and working and watching those ideas manifest into reality. THAT is what success is.
Being successful in whatever you want to do that makes sense for you and your family, taking on those responsibilities and choosing to work diligently to bring them to fruition.
You see, success is choice. A choice to be different. A choice to rise to your desires. A choice to join the 90% and leave the 10% mindset that is keeping you “stuck”.
You want a bank account overflowing in cash, a big fancy house and car, right. Why?
Because we’ve been given the gift of choice.
One of the most powerful gifts we’ve been given as humans is the gift of choice. We’re not stuck like a tree, using up all the nourishment and, with nothing left, you die because you can’t change locations. As a human being, you can go north, south, east, west, up, down, left right. Humans can change and do anything they want to do.
So why aren’t we purposefully positioning ourselves to thrive?
Every form of life except humans strives to the max of its potential.
Think about it.
How tall will a tree grow? As tall as it possibly can.
You’ve never heard of a tree growing half as high as it could. No, that is impossible. A tree grows as high as it can, drives down every root it can, produces every leaf it can, extends itself as far as it possibly can. Every life form extends to the max, except human beings.
So, how do you get unstuck, and make the conscious choice to succeed?
Believe or not, you’ve got the choice to completely turn your life around. But, the first step is to do IT. Whatever IT may be. Moving to that city, forgiving that person, learning that new skill. Whatever IT is, making a choice to do it all (or not) is undoubtedly the deciding factor behind you reaching your success.
I find that we live in a time filled with unnecessary expectations that have a way of demotivating us- resulting in fear, procrastination, excuses, or choosing to give up totally.
But, what if we didn’t think twice about IT, and just went ALL IN?
I once had a friend that told me “Jeri, I’m going to sell my stuff, pack my bags, and I’m going to live near the mountains. I’m going to live in a small home, live off the land and feed the animals nearby.” Sure, I thought the idea was interesting, but didn’t think he’d actually go through with it.
But, guess what—he actually went to do IT… and I consider him a smashing success.
Because he’s doing what he designed to do and pulled it off!
You can’t possibly say, “No, no, that’s not successful.” That’s the epitome of success!
Designing your life and pulling it off to make progress in the direction that satisfies you? Successful indeed.
Design With Discipline
In life, we all struggle with one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. What I suggest to everybody is to consider the disciplines because disciplines weigh ounces; regrets weigh tons.
You don’t want to substitute a discipline for a regret THAT would be a poor choice.
Instead, design your life to harmonize with good, healthy disciplines that can help you elevate.
Some would include:
Eating healthy, exercising a minimum of 3 days a week, meditating, and planning out your days (just to name a few).
And once you master these disciplines, start designing your life around them. Use them as a catapult for predictable success.
Now, you can substitute a discipline for regret…but, I promise you won’t feel good about it.
An old prophet once said, “What if you gain the whole world but it costs you your soul?” Would that be worth it?
Initially, we say no! That experience would be bitter, awful and so devastating that it wouldn’t be worth it.
But, people do it every day!
Because the 90% are led by greed and believe only in luck, instead of legitimate ambition. And if (or when) they finally arrive to their success, they’re worn out, exhausted, stressed out, and even depressed!
How many times have you seen people who “have it all” have a mental and emotional breakdown? Too damn often, indeed.
I’m telling you, it might taste good up front, but it’s going to turn bitter and eventually cause you a major stomach ache if you don’t bite the bullet and choose to master discipline.
The bottom line is THIS…
Success IS a personal choice, and it’s your responsibility to make it. It doesn’t matter how big or small- success starts with doing a little bit, then more, and more.
Choose to do IT, develop the disciplines to carry them out, and ultimately reach your destination of true happiness, wealth, and an abundance of success.
